Relative Species SCORE Based on Conservation Status and Weighted Scoring System

General Formula:

Where:

  • is the number of species with IUCN status i (for example, Si would represent the number of LC species),

  • is the weight or score associated with IUCN status i,

  • n is the number of different IUCN status categories.

Using data for n=5n = 5 (LC, NT, VU, EN, CR):
LIC: 36 species, score = 1
NT: 3 species, score = 2

Example:

Then the Relative Species Value could be calculated as:

(36×1)+(3×2)+(3×3)+(2×4)+(1×5)=64
